G&A Partners is partnering with Genective, a technology joint venture of two leading global seed companies, who is looking for a Molecular Biologist to join their dynamic team in Champaign, IL.



    The Molecular Biologist will have an instrumental role as a member of a growing team in a dynamic and informal discovery research environment. This positions’ technical expertise will be critical to meet research objectives while contributing to the development of a high energy and high value research culture. In addition to technical expertise in gene cloning and construct building, this position will be an expert in experimental design with superb data communication and tracking skills necessary for a fast-paced collaborative research environment.


    • Facilitate design & implementation of construct-build pipeline for heterologous gene expression.
    • Apply scientific passion and curiosity to identify opportunities for process improvement while maintaining the highest level of safety, ethics, and scientific integrity.
    • Actively seek out stakeholder needs to develop technical strategies to meet project timelines. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior scientists as a molecular biology resource and expert.
    • Utilize knowledge and expertise to proactively engage all members of Genective R&D team to promote an energetic culture of science and community.
    • Manage high risk/reward activities responsibly without sacrificing core deliverables. Work with project teams and other stakeholders to identify and address critical gaps in data.
    • Effectively communicate experimental results by distilling complex information to readily interpreted conclusions.
    • Demonstrate a core desire for continuous improvement through exchange of constructive advice with other scientists regardless of seniority level.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.


    • PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, or related life science. MS with 4-5 years of industry experience, or BS with 6-10 years industry experience.
    • Recent PhD graduates and those holding other degrees in life sciences with commiserate experience are encouraged to apply.
    • Laboratory experience in molecular biology is required.
    • Experience in insecticidal protein biochemistry, plant expression, or structural biology is a plus.
    • Proficiency with MS office and statistical analysis software packages.
    • Must have excellent written, communication, and presentation skills, with excellent time and program management skills.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and agile environment.
