G&A Partners' client is currently seeking an Operator - Manual Machinist to join its team in Houston,TX.

Responsibilities

  • Sets up and operates the equipment. Perform manual machining operations as assigned by the foreman. Bridgeport Mills, Horizontal Boring Mill, and lathe (small and large machines).
  • Machine features on metal parts ranging from .500” over 84” in diameter.
  • Use hand tools such as micrometers, calipers, scales, height gages, gauge blocks and perform in-process inspection as required.
  • Ability to create and execute machining plan with little or no assistance.
  • Hold close tolerances .001” and finishes 32RMS or better.
  • Read and understand blueprint and convert metric to inches. Follow written and oral instructions.
  • Conduct inprocess inspections.
  • Able to stand, climb, kneel and lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Wear PPE at all times and observe health, safety and environmental policies.
  • Complete necessary documentation for each job. Filling out the travelers, nonconformance reports, etc.
  • Notify Foremen of equipment problems.
  • Notify Foremen of any non-conforming material.
  • Maintain a clean/safe work area.

Qualifications

  • Read, write, and speak English.
  • Product familiarity and 2 years minimum experience in manual machinist in a similar work environment.
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Own basic machinist tools.
  • Ability to operate forklift.
  • Ability to operate overhead crane.
  • Be reliable and be on time.
