Overview

Responsibilities

  • Drafting petitions, discovery requests and responses, motions and responses
  • Calendaring and tracking litigation deadlines, and ensuring timely compliance
  • Reviewing and analyzing medical and billing records
  • Drafting demands for attorney review
  • Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, adjusters, courts, medical providers, experts, witnesses, and third parties pursuant to attorney direction
  • Researching causes of action, venue, etc.
  • Using Westlaw, Texas SOS, and other electronic research tools
  • E-filing state and some federal
  • Hospital lien searches
  • Supporting reduction work on medical bills, liens, and subrogation claims pursuant to attorney direction
  • Draft, edit, and review releases and settlement disbursement documents.
  • Back-up phone support

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of paralegal experience, with 3+ years of Texas plaintiff personal injury litigation experience (including motor vehicle accidents)
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, must be able to multi-task and work under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred

  • College degree/positive academic track record
  • Federal court experience
  • Experience screening & signing up new clients
