Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas (GSSWT) is headquartered in San Antonio, TX and serves more than 15,000 Girl Scouts (girls and adults) across 21 counties in southwest Texas. Job Summary:  The Girl Experience Manager manages the program function of the council’s jurisdiction, supervising program staff and supporting volunteers. The Girl Experience Manager ensures that the needs of a diverse population are recognized and met and that program goals are met and assure quality Girl Scout program is offered throughout the council’s jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the development of strategies for building relationships that expand the possibilities for
    girls across the council and support for volunteers in the delivery of high-quality experiences.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments to transition staff-based delivery constructs and
    systems to volunteer-based delivery systems whenever possible and to ensure that volunteers
    are supported and guided.
  • Collaborates with all council departments to create and implement local plans for participation
    growth across pathways that reflect local preference for participation.
  • Analyzes program evaluations to ensure membership needs are being met, address issues, and
    modifies or discontinues programs as needed.
  • Develops and monitors program budgets, plans, and initiatives.
  • Oversees staff delivering and/or training volunteers who provide Girl Scout programming.
  • Utilizes the Qualtrics system to plan and prepare electronic surveys for reporting; prepares and
    updates all outcome surveys annually.
  • Collects, analyzes and interprets outcomes and other data related to funding reports.
  • Assists staff in building participation in all outcomes surveys that support membership and
    program.
  • Creates a culture of teamwork; develops a motivated and competent team through effective
    supervision, performance evaluation, and development opportunities.
  • Manages and coordinates department budget and corresponding resource allocations.
  • Leading a team focusing on K-5th grade programming.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned in support of the council’s mission and goals.

    administrative tasks.
    • Problem Solving - recognizes when immediate action is required; recognizes when sufficient
    information has been obtained to make a decision; makes decisions where appropriate or
    refers decisions to the appropriate organizational level; makes decisions without undue delay.
    • Team-Building - knows team-building techniques and processes; collaborates with others to
    create optimal solutions; fosters a commitment to a team approach to work; promotes
    partnerships between work units; collaboratively defines boundaries and outcomes of work
    responsibilities; shares information with others; recognizes and rewards team

    • Volunteer Management - knows the procedures, tools, and legal issues associated with
    recruiting, selecting, supervising, and releasing adult volunteers; assigns and manages
    volunteers in an efficient manner; monitors use of volunteers; recognizes volunteer
    accomplishments.
    • Customer Service – manages difficult or emotional customer situations; responds promptly to
    customer needs; solicits customer feedback to improve service; responds to requests for service
    and assistance; meets commitments

Qualifications

Licensure/Membership Requirements: The employee is required to maintain membership with Girl Scouts of the United States of America throughout the duration of their employment with GSSWT.

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and two to four years of progressive responsibility; or any
    combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills
    and abilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals,
    financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from
    customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches
    and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions,
    proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic
    algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid
    conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
    diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: Must be proficient with computer and Microsoft Office (i.e., Excel, Outlook, and
    Word).
  • Travel Required: Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable means of transportation. Must be
    comfortable traveling alone or with a team member to our councils in 21 counties.

  • This position primarily performs its duties indoors and is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather
    conditions and/or moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually
    moderate.

    analyzing data and figures, using a computer and extensive reading and proofing. While performing
    the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently
    required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands or arms. The
    employee occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
