G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join its team in Houston, TX.

 

Summary

Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for providing and coordinating orthopedic patient care which includes performing routine office procedures and testing, participating in patient teaching, communicating effectively with others, and assisting the physician/mid-level provider in the delivery of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patients to rooms in a professional and appropriate manner (wheelchair, stretcher, ambulatory)
  • Works with MD/Mid-level providers to documents appropriate, accurately and timely on all patient medical records by obtaining patient history of present illness, vital signs, and complies with MIPS when entering data into EHR
  • Completes orders for treatment prescribed by the physician, i.e. prescriptions, occupational therapy, physical therapy, out of work notes, lab requisitions, tests and surgery orders
  • Obtain test results; notify provider and document results as indicated
  • Performs medical aseptic hand washing before, during and after interactions with patients
  • Uses standard precautions and aseptic technique while setting up and performing procedures with the physician.
  • Uses safe injection practices by labeling, dating medication vials, labeling syringes, confirming laterality with the patient and discarding biohazardous materials in appropriate receptacles.

Qualifications

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED

Experience Preferred

  • Minimum of three years medical office experience preferred with orthopedics experience.

Professional License/ Certification Requirements

  • Medical Assistant Certification/BLS Certification
