G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Nursery Manager to join its team in Austin,TX.

 

Summary:

In this role, you will play a key part in our commitment to providing environmentally sustainable native plants, promoting them as an alternative to traditional commercial plant production. You will oversee nursery operations, manage inventory, ensure the health and quality of plants, and help drive both wholesale and retail sales of our native plant offerings across Texas.

Responsibilities

As Nursery Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing day-to-day nursery operations, including plant care, inventory management, and organization.
  • Loading and unloading plant deliveries in a timely manner.
  • Responding to client inquiries and maintaining an updated nursery contact list.
  • Generating newsletters to keep customers informed about plant availability and promotions.
  • Ensuring plants are properly maintained, including trimming, fertilizing, and general care.
  • Managing greenhouse inventory to ensure profitability and product availability.
  • Implementing merchandising strategies to drive sales and improve the customer experience.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients, including wholesalers and retailers.
  • Setting up new customer accounts and entering orders into internal software.
  • Ensuring the appearance and cleanliness of the greenhouse and nursery spaces.
  • Occasionally delivering plant orders to wholesalers and retail locations around the Austin area.

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of native plants, including shrubs, grasses, trees, flowers, and other landscape materials.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Teams, and general computer literacy.
  • Experience with email marketing platforms such as Constant Contact or Mailchimp.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A professional demeanor when interacting with clients, customers, and colleagues.
  • A passion for sustainability and native plants in landscaping.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.

 

Education & Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in a nursery or landscape management role.
  • 2+ years of experience in retail sales or in an account management sales position.
  • Knowledge of a wide variety of landscape plants, including trees, shrubs, flowers, and grasses.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A valid U.S. driver's license is required.
