Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas (GSSWTX) serves more than 10,000 girls and nearly 4,000 adult volunteers in a 21-county jurisdiction. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) is a collection of activities and experiences where girls earn badges, sell cookies, go on exciting trips, explore the outdoors, and participate in or lead take-action projects that make a difference. The GSLE empowers girls to discover their own world as they develop a strong sense of self and strengthen values, connect with others in a global community as girls form caring relationships, promote cooperation and embrace diversity, and take action in the world as girls identify and solve problems they care about.

We are currently looking for individuals to fill the following Summer Day Camp Seasonal Staff positions at Camp Metro. Camp Metro is a Day Camp program held at the West Side Girl Scout Leadership Center in the former Coronado/Escobar Elementary School in San Antonio.

Summer Day Camp Seasonal Staff Positions

Unit Counselors

Nurse

Unit Counselors

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older. 
• Counselors are the primary caregivers for each camper. The counselor is responsible for planning, teaching, coordinating, and carrying out activities and guiding campers in their personal growth and daily living skills.
• Follow daily camp schedule, run activities, and supervision of group of campers from 12 to 20, interacting with the group and providing a safe, positive environment.
• Pay range: $14-16.50/hr. (dependent upon experience)

Nurse

• Must be at least 25 years of age or older.
• Registered Nurse (RN) or License Practical Nurse (LPN), with a license as required by the state of Texas. Certified to dispense medication with a minimum of 1 yr. experience.
• Have and maintain a valid TX driver’s license, and acceptable driving record, acceptable insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Pay: $18/hr.

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older (unless specified otherwise).
• Must be able to obtain or become certified in First Aid/CPR through the American Red Cross.
• Valid driver’s license and successful completion of a background check. 
• Reliable transportation required.
• Must be able to attend training sessions May 27 – 30 and June 2 – 6, 2025. (8:30 am - 5:30 pm)
• Must be available to work camp sessions June 9 – July 25, 2025. (Camp will not be in session June 30 – July 4, 2025).
• Must be available to work one of the following shifts:
  • 6:45 am - 3:45 pm
  • 8:30 am - 5:30 pm
  • 9:00 am - 6:00 pm
• Additional requirements and duties as necessary to perform the job.

General Information:

• GSSWT provides applicable trainings and certifications for hired staff. 
• If selected for hire, a minimum of 3 references will be requested.
