G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Landscape Cement Mason to join its team in Austin, TX.

 

Summary

The Landscape Cement Mason will be responsible for building high-quality landscape masonry and concrete structures, and making repairs to existing structures such as brick replacement, lintel replacement, mortar removal and replacement, and stone repair. The Cement Mason must be familiar with working in commercial and residential environments, and be ready to assist landscape personnel when needed. 

Responsibilities

  • Operate concrete mixers and other machinery as needed for mixing and transporting concrete
  • Spreading concrete into forms using rake or shovel
  • Preparing and pouring concrete for various structures, including foundations, sidewalks, and walls
  • Mixing cement using hoe or concrete mixing machine
  • Performing masonry work including brick, block, stone, dimensional stone, concrete forming, finishing, and caulking
  • Breaking and repairing concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools
  • Grading soil on ground to achieve proper thickness of concrete
  • Leveling concrete to specified grade depth and workable consistency
  • Placing reinforcing steel/base
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
  • Perform concrete finishing tasks such as smoothing, leveling, and finishing freshly poured concrete
  • Utilize tools like trowels, screeds, and floats to achieve desired finishes
  • Repair, resurface, and replace damaged concrete surfaces
  • Use hand tools effectively for cutting, shaping, and finishing concrete surfaces

Non Negotiables

  • Upon offer, employees will be required to complete and pass a pre-employment background and MVR check
  • All field employees must complete First Aid/CPR and OSHA 10 courses upon hire, or submit current proof of certification within the first 90-days of employment
  • Ability to lift, move, and maneuver up to 100 pounds on a frequent basis

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Have a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation
  • 3+ years Previous experience in carpentry, masonry, landscaping, irrigation, or related field
  • Must be a Certified Mason.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in concrete forming techniques and installation processes
  • Minimum 3 year experience in building retaining walls, sunrooms, decks, pergolas, and gazebos
  • Minimum 3 year experience operating concrete mixers and other related machinery
  • Minimum 3 year experience in concrete repair, epoxy and urethane injection, carbon fiber reinforcement, grout pocket patching, post tension repairs, and concrete sealing
  • Strong skills in concrete pouring, leveling, and finishing
  • Preferred - Certification or training in masonry
  • Successfully operate hand tools, power tools, and machinery
  • Accurately read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
  • Be available to work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines
  • Feel comfortable communicating directly with all levels of the organization
  • Understand occupational hazards and safety precautions
