G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Multifamily Designer to join its team in Austin, TX.

 

Summary

Responsible for performing engineering design for small, medium and large multifamily projects. Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Design experience and capabilities are preferred but not all three are necessarily required. Position requires the application of professional engineering concepts, principles, practices, and methods sufficient to perform a broad range of engineering activities in a variety of work environments. Guidance may be provided by an experienced Engineer with the Designer being required to exercise judgement in interpreting, analyzing, and adapting methods, techniques, and procedures to specific cases. Initially completed work is reviewed for technical soundness, appropriateness, and compliance with standard engineering practices.

Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

 

Design

  • Prepare and maintain design drawings, diagrams, charts, calculations, plans and permits under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. Develop preliminary and final designs and/or preparedesign criteria for assigned projects.
  • The ability to coordinate and provide a variety of technical information directly to clients is preferred but not required. This position will offer the candidate the opportunity to grow into a client-facing designer with further opportunity to develop into a Project Manager for multifamily
    projects.
  • Use computerized software programs (AutoCAD & Revit) to prepare drawings to provide technical advice and guidance to assigned work or project. Develop, analyze and generate engineering drawings suitable for bid, permit and construction.
  • Use engineering and mathematical references and tables, charts, computer equipment, accepted documentation processes required to perform engineering studies, calculations, analysis, estimates, etc.
  • Conduct field observations of work done by contractors to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Interpret and condense field notes to prepare and/or oversee the preparation of plans and drawings.
  • Maintain accurate filing and records system for projects from initiation to project close out.
  • Operate various computer aided engineering design, analysis programs and tools.
  • Understand, apply and maintain compliance with regulatory and industry standards and requirements (e.g., NERC, ANSI, IEEE, NEC, etc.).
  • Understand and interpret codes and local ordinances and apply to design (IPC, IMC, UPC, UMC,
    NEC, etc.).

Project Planning

  • Determine project requirements and estimate personal resources.
  • Prioritize tasks and time management to complete scheduled tasks and deliver design documents on time.
  • Create milestones.
  • Anticipate project constraints and create alternative plans.
  • Provide input into the preparation of engineering proposals and contracts, and participate in the negotiation of revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Act independently on technical matters in the assigned field of expertise and recommend approval of professional services and materials.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree/Certification in a related Engineering Discipline with five plus (5+) years of relevant work experience specifically in multifamily projects.
  • If an Associate Degree/Certification is not attained, eight plus (8+) years of relevant work experience specifically in multifamily projects is an option for candidate consideration.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is required; proficiency in Revit is also preferred.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with corporate managers, end users and engineers from other departments.

Salary

Starting wage is $80,000

The starting range represents the low and high end of the G&A Partners’ range for this position. Actual wages will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of G&A’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include commissions, annual bonuses, and program specific rewards. In addition, G&A Partners provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending, ancillary benefits, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
