Essential skills and qualifications
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and potentially PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
- Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment malfunctions efficiently and accurately.
- Reading and Interpreting Technical Documentation: Proficiency in understanding blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in maintenance tasks and identify potential problems early.
- Time Management and Organization: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and organize tools and materials efficiently.
- Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures, including the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments, as well as to prepare maintenance reports.
- Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude for understanding and troubleshooting complex machinery and equipment.
- Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina.
- Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS) and reporting tools.
Education and Experience:
- Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
- at least 4 years of Maintenance technician experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a steel manufacturing environment preferred
- technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechanical fields preferred
