G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Maintenance Technician to join its team in Channelview, TX.

Responsibilities

 

  • Installation and Commissioning: Installing new industrial and commercial machinery, ensuring proper setup and configuration according to specifications and safety guidelines.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Performing scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on equipment, including lubrication, cleaning, and adjustments, to minimize breakdowns and extend machinery lifespan.
  • Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues that arise in equipment and systems. This includes disassembling and examining malfunctioning machinery, identifying the root cause of problems, and repairing or replacing defective parts.
  • Testing and Calibration: Performing tests and operating machinery after repairs to ensure proper functionality. They also calibrate equipment components to optimize performance.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Preparing maintenance reports by collecting and analyzing information on equipment performance, repairs, and maintenance activities.
  • Safety and Compliance: Complying with safety regulations and procedures, including using proper personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Blueprint and Technical Document Interpretation: Reading and interpreting technical manuals, electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to understand equipment and control systems.
  • Training and Mentorship: Training other production workers on routine maintenance procedures and machine safety practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Focusing on continuous improvement by implementing or assisting in developing and implementing improvements to facilities and equipment to enhance safety, quality, and productivity. 

Qualifications

Essential skills and qualifications

  • Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and potentially PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers).
  • Troubleshooting Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex equipment malfunctions efficiently and accurately.
  • Reading and Interpreting Technical Documentation: Proficiency in understanding blueprints, schematics, and equipment manuals.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in maintenance tasks and identify potential problems early.
  • Time Management and Organization: Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and organize tools and materials efficiently.
  • Safety Awareness: Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures, including the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments, as well as to prepare maintenance reports.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude for understanding and troubleshooting complex machinery and equipment.
  • Physical Ability: Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and physical stamina.
  • Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with computer-based maintenance management systems (CMMS) and reporting tools.

Education and Experience: 

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent
  • at least 4 years of Maintenance technician experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in a steel manufacturing environment preferred
  • technical degree or certification in industrial maintenance, electrical, or mechanical fields preferred

The starting range represents the low and high end of the G&A Partners’ range for this position. Actual wages will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of G&A’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include commissions, annual bonuses, and program specific rewards.
