G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a CNC Milling Machinist to join its team in Houston,TX.

Responsibilities

Basic level CNC Mill Machining expectations:

  • Meets or exceeds router time standards
  • Sets up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings and indicating vices; tramming heads
  • Loads machine by lifting stock into position by means of a crane or hand.
  • Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools;
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
  • Maintains equipment by completing daily preventative maintenance requirements
  • Operates Manual mill for production work as well as the CNC equipment.
  • Adheres to quality assurance procedures and processes.

 

Advanced Level expectations:

  • Collaborate with CNC programmers on machining methods and Code formatting
  • Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)
  • Verify production set-up and production programming.
  • Communicate all discrepancies to the proper management personnel.
  • Monitors all programs to make sure they follow blueprint instructions and safely and successfully completed all tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve programs with machines as they arise and/or work with programmers.
  • Mentor and train new entry level machinists
  • Programs Mazak mills when requested per complexity.

General:

  • Work with production supervisor communicating issues or needs that would prohibit production
  • Supports 5S initiative and shop orderliness.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Provide occasional support to other areas of manufacturing operations as needed

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Trade School certification a plus.

Experience:

  • Entry level: 1 yrs general experience

Advanced Level:

  • 5+ years experience with oil field products a plus
  • 5+ years machining experience or equivalent years of trade school as approved by relevant manager.
  • 4-axis milling experience, Mazak Controls a Plus

Skills:

  • Use of measuring equipment, i.e., caliper, mics, indicators, et.
  • Use of shop tools, i.e., die grinders, wrenches, etc.
  • Mazatrol experience
  • 4-axis milling experience
  • Capable of setting and editing work zeros
  • Capable of setting and editing tool lengths
  • Thorough working knowledge of Machine Controls, Fanuc, etc.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent reading comprehension skills.
  • Good math skills, especially algebra, trigonometry
  • Active listening skills.
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Knowledge of metal shop work
  • Ability to write and read complex spreadsheets
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Knowledge of safety measures pertinent to job.
  • Communication skills

Salary

Starting wage is $60,000/yr. up to $62,400/yr.

The starting range represents the low and high end of the G&A Partners’ range for this position. Actual wages will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of G&A’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include commissions, annual bonuses, and program specific rewards. In addition, G&A Partners provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, flexible spending, ancillary benefits, retirement savings plan, paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO).
